Everyone has a secret… and Olivia Pope has dedicated her life to protecting and defending the public images of the nation’s elite and keeping those secrets under wraps. Revered and feared at the same time, Olivia, a former communications director to the President of the United States, left the White House to open her own prominent crisis management firm. She is hoping to start a new chapter in her life—both professionally and personally—but she can’t seem to completely cut ties with her past. Slowly it becomes apparent that her dysfunctional staff, who specialize in fixing other people’s lives, can’t quite fix the ones closest at hand-their own. The creator and executive producers of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice delve into the behind-the-scenes machinations of a mesmerizing top crisis manager in ABC’s highly anticipated new drama, Scandal.

Olivia’s accomplished staff, who would follow her anywhere and do whatever it takes to save someone’s reputation, include Harrison Wright, a slick litigator; Huck, hacker extraordinaire; investigator Abby Whelan, don’t let that smile and red hair fool you, she’s as sharp as they come; and Quinn Perkins, the new young woman in the office who is in awe of Olivia, but is initiated in a trial by fire on her very first day on the job.

As Olivia Pope and Associates fights for the reputations and sometimes lives of their clients, Olivia’s former boss, President Fitzgerald Grant, the First Lady Millicent Grant, the President’s Chief of Staff, Cyrus Beene, and the Assistant State Attorney David Rosen are never far from her beat. Her clients aren’t the only ones with secrets, though; surprisingly, she may need to exercise all her damage control skills on her own behalf.

About Season 1

Quinn Perkins is recruited by Harrison Wright, a representative from Olivia Pope & Associates, one of the most prestigious firms in the country. She soon finds herself engrossed in the fast-paced world of crisis management with a diverse, driven group of “gladiators in suits” who “make problems go away” for their clients. Olivia is drawn into a case revolving around a White House intern named Amanda Tanner, who is claiming to have had a sexual relationship with Olivia’s former boss—and lover—President Fitzgerald Grant. At first, Olivia dismisses Amanda’s claim, but it soon becomes clear that she is telling the truth. As more of Amanda’s story is revealed, including the fact that she’s pregnant, Olivia begins to find herself at odds with the man she loved and her former mentor and current White House Chief of Staff, Cyrus Beene.

When Amanda Tanner is abducted and it’s discovered that she was murdered by a professional killer, Olivia begins to believe the worst. Meanwhile, Quinn begins a romantic relationship with a reporter, Gideon Wallace, who has begun to piece together the Amanda Tanner story. When Gideon discovers that the Vice President’s Chief of Staff, Billy Chambers, is the true mastermind behind Amanda’s attempt to blackmail the President and her death, Billy murders Gideon. Quinn discovers her dying boyfriend, but she can’t be found at the scene of a murder. Olivia and her team help to hide Quinn’s involvement with Gideon’s death and save President Grant from a scandal that could ruin his presidency. But Assistant State Attorney David Rosen knows that Quinn was at the scene of Gideon’s death and he’s determined to find out what her secret is. Who is Quinn?
