Character Bio

Millicent Grant is the beloved First Lady of the United States of America. But beneath that saccharine smile is an iron-hard will and indomitable political savvy. Nothing gets past this First Lady. Nothing. Any attempts at dismissiveness or subterfuge on behalf of her husband or his Chief of Staff invariably leads to a sharp reminder that they’re not the only ones holding power in this town.

Actor Bio

Born the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, Bellamy Young graduated from Yale University with dual degrees in English and theater studies, and also holds a certificate from Oxford University in England.

Young moved to New York City after college to follow her first love, singing. She starred on Broadway as Mary in Cy Coleman’sThe Life and as Meg in the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along. Other favorite theater credits include playing Margaret in the world premiere of Randy Newman’s “Faust” and LouAnn in the world premiere of Landford Wilson’s Book of Days. Then she made her television debut on the soap “Another World.”

After New York Young moved to Los Angeles, landing roles in We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson, Madeleine Stowe and Greg Kinnear, and in JJ Abrams’ Mission: Impossible: 3, with Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames and Keri Russell. She has also made a number of independent films, including The Freebie, starring Dax Shepard, and A Country Remedy, opposite Joshua Leonard, which she also helped produce and film in her home state of North Carolina. After returning to Los Angeles, Young began her career in primetime television, and to date has appeared in over 40 television series, including Grey’s AnatomyPrivate PracticeTwo and a Half MenThe West WingERFrasierBoston LegalCold CaseNCIS and Law & Order.

Young is probably best known for her roles in Criminal MindsCSI: MiamiScrubs and Dirty Sexy Money. She also executive-produced and co-starred in the film The Cottage, starring David Arquette, which premieres in October 2012.
