In Episode 305, “More Cattle, Less Bull” the Democratic primary has begun and the potential candidates for the next election are starting to emerge. The most likely slate of candidates are Fitzgerald Grant (Republican Party), Sally Langston (Independent Party), and Congresswoman Josie Marcus (Democratic Party). It is shaping up to be a highly competitive election for Fitz.
Olivia worked with Congresswoman Josie Marcus to fix the fact that at age 15 she became pregnant with her high school boyfriend and gave the baby up for adoption. We later find out that her sister Candice is the daughter that was supposedly given up for adoption. While Marcus fires OPA for advising her to expose such a difficult truth she later realizes that it was to the right thing to do and she is free of the weight of the lie. Josie wants Olivia Pope by her side to run her campaign.
Earlier that night First Lady Mellie Grant sent secret agent Tom to bring Olivia to a private suite for a talk. Mellie asked Olivia to be the campaign manager for Fitz’s re-election campaign because he needs her, they both need her, and they can help him to be the man that they both know he can be so that, “ he can run on his own steam and win.”
Olivia has a big decision to make. She definitely needs to think about what is best for her own personal and professional interests.
Which campaign will Olivia choose to run Josie’s or Fitz’s? What will be the reasons for her decision? Can Fitz win the election without Olivia? If Olivia helps Josie win the election will she and Fitz finally get to be together? Please leave a comment below.
